NAF 21-19 REC Aid ( LIFEGUARD)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeads and coordinates the daily operations of the pools under the direction and supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor.  Responsibilities include the leading of approximately 15 Lifeguards and 1 Water Safety Instructor (WSI).  Advises lifeguards and points out necessary precautions to assume the safety of swimming pool participants.  Explains to lifeguards the work requirements, methods and procedures for cleaning the pool, pool areas and locker rooms.  When unsafe environmental or health conditions exist, informs Aquatics Supervisor and closes swimming areas until safe conditions return.  Refers unusual problems to the Aquatics Supervisor.  Recommends equipment/supplies necessary for daily maintenance or related areas.  Keeps supervisor informed about assigned activities.  May provide lessons to swimmers, if WSI certified.  Assists with administrative duties involved in the operation of the pool.  Assists in arranging parties, keeps schedules and ensures that adequate personnel are scheduled.  Reports maintenance problems to the proper parties or to supervisor.  Keeps equipment and supplies organized.  Conducts training for lifeguards under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor.  Assists in recording attendance, equipment inventories, accidents, incidents, pool parties and other related information.  Assists in the evaluation of the swimming pool services and consults with supervisor.   Must be familiar with and have basic knowledge of  pool chemicals and how they are used, pool equipment and basic operation of a pool.  Performs other related duties assigned.

 

 

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSMust possess a valid current Lifeguard Certificate and a current First Aide, CPR/AED Certificate.  Must have a level of maturity so as to exercise control over a mostly young staff of guards.  Must present a neat, clean and presentable appearance.

2. Military Spouse Preference (MSP): Qualifying spouses eligible for MSP are spouses of an active duty military member of the U.S. Armed Forces, including members of the National Guard or Reserves on active duty. The marriage must have occurred before the military member received official permanent change of station (PCS) orders to the installation listed above. MSP is applicable only when applying for NAF positions at the NF-03 and below and equivalent craft and trade (CT) positions.

To claim this preference, you MUST:

•Submit sponsor’s PCS orders to installation you are applying for; AND

•If you are not indicated as a spouse on the PCS orders, you MUST submit proof of marriage prior to PCS.

 

3. Veteran’s Preference/Gold Star Veteran's Preference: Qualifying military veterans, and spouses/parents of deceased veterans shall be given employment preference over non-preference applicants if they are equally qualified. Preference applicable for positions open to external candidates.

To claim Veteran's preference, you MUST:

•Submit a copy of your DD-214 (member 4 copy); AND

•Submit completed SF15 from the Veterans Administration (VA); AND

•Submit any other supporting documentation (disability, official statements, proof of service, etc)

To claim Gold Star Veteran's preference, you MUST:

•Submit completed SF-15 from the Veterans Administration (VA); AND

•Submit a legible copy of DD-1300; AND

•Submit any other supporting documentation (official statements, document of service, court decree, etc).

 

Qualifying applicants with preferences are considered in the order listed above. Then all other qualifying applicants are considered.
